Ad Lightning: Blocking Configuration Options

Configure how Ad Lightning detects, restricts, and replaces unwanted ad content across your environment.

The settings below outline configurable options for how Ad Lightning manages ad behavior and enforcement within your environment. Each option includes:

  • Description - what the feature does and how it impacts ad delivery

  • Default – whether the feature is active by default

  • Web / App Support – the environment(s) in which the feature applies

Note: Blocking configurations can be customized during onboarding or adjusted later in collaboration with your Boltive account team. Some settings require wrapper integration or testing in your environment before activation.

Malicious Categories

Detects and blocks ads associated with malware, redirects, cloaking, or other deceptive behavior. Certain sub-categories (e.g., suspicious redirects or crypto scams) can be toggled on/off depending on risk tolerance.

Blocks ads that fall into regulated or brand-sensitive IAB categories (e.g., gambling, alcohol, politics).

Google HAI Refresh

When Google blocks ads that exceed size or CPU thresholds and leaves a blank slot, Boltive refreshes to render a new ad.

Detects blank ad slots and automatically triggers a refresh to re-monetize the page.

Refreshes slots when ads are blocked by verification vendors, allowing publishers to serve replacement ads instead of a vendor’s house ad.

When an ad iframe is inserted into the page, parent div size and z-index are verified. If the ad covers β‰ˆ95–105% of the page and the z-index is set to an integer, it’s flagged as a pop-up.

Blocks ads that serve over page content when the ad iframe is larger than its slot or unit. Site testing required.
