A positive user experience is vital, but many of the solutions in place to protect site visitors actually leave a negative impression of the website and affect the publisher’s bottom line. Boltive offers several refresh options to help bridge this gap by both improving user experience and allowing the publisher to remonetize impacted slots.
Chrome Heavy Ad Intervention (HAI) Refresh
Chrome has implemented an intervention that limits the resources a display ad can use before serving on the page (more on their policy here)
Boltive detects when Chrome has blocked an ad and then refreshes the slot, allowing the pub to control the creative that is served rather than Chrome’s grey box calling out an ad has been removed
Empty Ad Refresh
Blank ads impact user experience and negatively impact monetization
Boltive identifies when an ad slot is blank and automatically triggers a refresh to quickly remonetize, giving publishers a new tool to ensure their sites are viewed as designed
How do we define an empty slot?
When DOMContentLoaded of the ad iframe is fired, we detect to see if the body is empty and will refresh the ad slot
We also have a “refresh empty slot interval” feature to detect if an ad unit doesn’t have an ad iframe
Verification Refresh
Third party tags are often wrapped by vendors that block an ad from serving if the webpage is perceived as not being brandsafe
Boltive detects and refreshes the slot when an ad is blocked by these vendors, allowing the pub to control the creative that is delivered rather than a vendor’s house ad
Reporting
Once the refresh options are turned on, you'll be able to find detailed reporting under the Blocking tab of the UI, as shown below:
From the above view, you can create reports and share them internally or with your partners as needed.
If you'd like any of these features turned on for your account, please reach out to your account manager to assist.
