When it comes to blocking, Ad Lightning allows you the ability to upload custom denylists, including competitive domains for advertisers that publishers don't want appearing on their site(s).

Prior to adding to your custom blocklist though, it's important to double check what you are saving and setting live. Below are a few important reminders, which are especially helpful when uploading larger lists.

  • Before delivery, the ADL Blocking Solution takes the ad markup from the winning creative, checks it against the denylist, and does not render the ad if the check fails. (You can read more about this here.)

  • Given the above, we strongly recommend triple checking your list before saving to ensure the below are NOT accidentally included. Having any of these on your denylist will very likely result in a loss of revenue on your end:

    • Domains you own

    • Networks you partner with

    • Advertisers you work with directly

    • Known impression and/or tracking pixels or other third party trackers (e.g Nielsen pixels)

  • As a best practice, ADL and your SSP partners should always have the same denylist in place. This ensures the SSPs are not sending ads your way that you do not want, and that we're only blocking things that sneak through the pipes. This is the best way to keep both your site and revenue protected.

If you have any questions on the above, our team is always more than happy to help!
